1.00At what point do attached additions to a manufactured home make it NOT a manufactured home?
Q.Do additions (structural and attached) eventually change the classification of a manufactured home for refinancing and insurance purposes? At what point does this happen? Our house is no longer what I would consider mobile at all! lol
We are in a very rural setting and the building has been done to code although no inspections were required. The home is a 2003 model. The addition does have foooters and a foundation.
A.It would change when the county inspects it and decides it is no longer a trailer. The odds of that happening are close to zero. How many of those "attachments" even have building permits?
1.00Referals for remodels and home additions?
Q.I am looking to do a remodel and possibly a home addition on a home I have lived in the past 10 years. Does anyone know of a reliable business or a way to find a reliable company that is the Raleigh/Cary/Apex, NC area?
A.Http://www.nari.org/level2/homeowners/.. try this site.
1.00What is the going rate for home additions in NC
Q.We want to add a garage w/ bonus room, and extend out back with an additional room or two. Will require HVAC upgrades.
What can I expect to pay / square foot?
A.$60 per sq ft basic. $100 gets you luxury. Can you do any of it yourself? /
1.00Is there a home design knowledge base website out there?
Q.I'm looking to find out if there is some type of knowledgebase website. I want something that deals with building custom homes, additions and remodels.
A.Yes called home design data base

1.00Termites and home additions?
Q.We have to put a new roof on our house while at the same time we know that we have drywood termites. Our home has hardwood floors, wood paneling and wood beam ceiling in our den. A new roof is going to be going in, should we termite AFTER the new roof to treat the new installation or go ahead and termite now since our roof won't probably go until September.
A.In Arizona it is law that when (this is for a MANUFACTURED HOME) EXCAVATION DIRT WORK IS DONE & BEFORE HOME IS SET CALL PEST CONTROL THEY HAVE TERMITE SPRAY IT COSTS BUT IN THE LONG RUN IT IS WELL WORTH IT!!! but...make sure its not water...In other words be there DON"T GET RIPPED OFF!!!!
1.00Home additions?
Q.I know it is hard to give an exact dollar amount but ideally give me a ballpark figure on what it might cost to add a full bath and a 12 by 12bedroom addition to a home
A.Almost impossible to do....of course the price is going to vary by the area you live in.
i would suggest contacting the better business bureau, then make sure you get several contractors names and ask them to bid on the project. make sure you check on their licenses with the state.
all bids should include architecture plans as well as permitting costs (they need to pull the permits for you).
good luck.
1.00TN home additions?
Q.From laying the footing to final product, how many permits are involved and what is the cost of each?
A.Im from OR and all we have are the building permit, and plumbing & elect. (or trades) and possible mechincal(heating& a/c) but if you do the mech yourself which is easy it saves alittle. If you live in the big cities the permits are usually more expensive here the building perm. are usually $800-1200 dep on size and if any engineering is involved. the trades permits are usually $200-400
1.00How would one add a second story to their home without a contractor? How long will it take? And the cost?
Q.We would like to add a second story addition to our home. And the contractor's we have gotten estimates have been soo outrageous. We would like to do it ourselves. Any tips or advice? How long will it take to rip off old roof and add the new roof? How many people would it take to get it done in one weekend?
A.If you have to ask a question like this then you should not do it. Too many things can go wrong. You can spend more money correcting your mistakes. Not to mention the time you will waste on mistakes. Additions is a too big of a job for a DIY person especially if you have to ask how to add a second story. Not to mention the permits, architect. Be smart THINK TWICE......
And unless you have the Amish people helping you, one weekend is not going to get it...........

Home Additions
Even if you don't feel the need for more space in your home right now, a home addition can dramatically increase the value of your home. If there is a choice between two similar-sized homes in the same neighborhood, the one with an extra bedroom, or a children's play room will always receive preference among home owners. In these hectic fast paced times, it makes more sense than ever to add a home office or a den to your home, so you can enjoy quality time with your family. Besides, it never hurts to plan ahead of schedule -- you'll most likely to find your needs from your house changing as the years go by.
Before you plan out your home addition project, consider your plans over the next few years. If you intend to make additions to your property and immediately place it on the market, avoid extensive additions because the ROI isn't always guaranteed. There are certain room additions like a kitchen addition, basement addition and a bath addition that can recoup almost 100% of their cost anywhere in the country. A deck addition on the other hand, can fetch you varying ROI rated depending on the location. Whatever the reasons for room additions, it's most practical to plan a home addition if you intend to continue living in the home for a few more years before selling the property.
Additions to your property can give great value for money if you can find two or more uses for a single room. For instance, a custom sunroom addition can give you a space for entertaining and socializing with friends, and can also be used as a family room at the end of the day. You can also use your sunroom as a conservatory by placing potted plants and herbs, and also as a pool room. A bedroom addition can provide much needed private space if you have more than one child, while a garage addition can be used not just to park your car, but also as a work area to indulge in your hobbies and crafts.

My parents and my family are interested in renovating my parents house to accomadate a mother-daughter setup. It is a cape style house, dormored, but we would like to raise the entire roof, making a full upstairs (3 bedrooms and 2 baths). Also , my mom had added a family room to her existing house (originally a 2 bed one bath cape) and we wanted to extend that family room to accomadate a living space for them (1 bedroom, 1 office a kitchenette and handicapped accesible bath) We'd love to have an estimate on this project. Thanks. Mailing address is Somerville, but we are located in Readington Township.

I have a small utility room off my kitchen that I would like to convert to a laundry room with a stackable washer drier unit. Space is limited. The electric water heater is located in this area. There is no existing drain, but it is near the kitchen sink. Electric, drain and venting would need to be added. Thank you.
